Technical assistance visit

States Parties may request technical assistance to draft national legislation and other measures to implement the BTWC. Experts from EU Member States are available to conduct a technical assistance visit in response to such a request.

Examples of activities available under a technical assistance visit include:

  • Presentations on the BTWC (treaty obligations, approaches to implementing the treaty, approaches to monitoring and enforcing BTWC-related legislation);
  • Meetings with stakeholders, including parliamentarians and senior government officials, to discuss and promote the adoption of appropriate and effective implementing legislation and other measures; and
  • Legislative drafting sessions.
When formally requesting assistance, the type of  desired assistance needs to be indicated on the request form.
